Inside Asmarina Deli and Cafe, with stocked shelves and deli cases

Seattle · Since 2009

The taste ofAsmara, every day

A light, green-walled neighborhood cafe and Eritrean deli. Hand-rolled injera, deep spiced stews, and coffee poured the old way — all day, every day.

Trays of strawberry and chocolate stuffed croissants on the Asmarina counter

Slow-simmered

Tsebhi doro and zigni cooked down for hours with berbere ground in our own kitchen.

Jebena coffee

Beans roasted to order, poured from clay — the ceremony runs every afternoon at four.

Catering

Weddings, memorials, office lunches. Full injera platters delivered hot and ready.

Pastry case filled with cannoli, eclairs, tiramisu and Italian cookies

Bun ceremony

Coffee is not a drink. It is an invitation.

Green beans roasted over coals, ground by hand, brewed in the jebena and poured in three rounds — abol, tona, baraka. Pull up a stool, the first cup is on us when you stay for all three.
